Found in The State 08 September 1965: Samuel William Barbar, 86, 50 Newport Drive, retired, died Tuesday afternoon in Providence Hospital after an illness of several weeks. Mr. Barber was born in Lancaster County, son of the late W. G. and Mary Barber. He had lived in Columbia most of his life and was a member of Southside Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Harry T. (Edna) Snipes, Columbia, and Mrs. Albert H. (Ruby) Tolbert of Columbia, and two grandsons, Billy and Dan Gossett of Columbia.

Found in The State 09 September 1965: Funeral services for Samuel William Barber will be held at 11:30 a.m. today in Dunbar Funeral Home, Gervais Street Chapel, conducted by the Rev. W. Lloyd Hellams. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Virgil Barber, Colie Dyson, Luther Dyson, Marvin Rabon, Lacy Summer and Lamar Entzminger.

Note: he is in the same plot with James R. Gossett, his son-in-law.
