DELHI (Special) — Sim B. Hawthorne, 78, of Monroe died yesterday in a Monroe hospital after a three-week illness.

A retired timber man, he was formerly of Delhi.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Gay's Funeral Home in Delhi with the Rev. L. P. Arnder officiating, assisted by the Rev. Fred Guilbert.

Interment will follow in the Masonic Cemetery here under the direction of Gay's Funeral Home.

Survivors include two sons, Leonard F. Hawthorne, Shreveport; and Jesse M. Hawthorne, Wenatchee, Wash.; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Posey, Monroe, Mrs. Daisy Bryant, Wenatchee, Wash., and Mrs. Ella Stampley, Andlusia, Ala.; one brother, Mike [sic Mac] Hawthorne, Little Creek, La.; one sister, Mrs. Ellie Hudson, Glenmora; and 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Charles Hawthorne, Troy Curry, Jerry Hernandez, Eddie Posey, Bill Chili, and Willie King.
