Resolutions of Respect
Whereas it has pleased our all wise Heavenly Father to remove from us by death on October 5th, 1895, our honored brother and friend, and an efficient deacon in this church, Dr. S. T. Chandler; therefore:
Resolved, First: That we bow submissively to the will of Him who doeth all things well.
Resolved, Second: That we give expression to a deep sense of loss in the removal of our brother and officer, and to the loss which our community has sustained in the death of a useful and honored citizen.
Resolved, Third: That we thank God that he was lovely spared to us.
Resolved, Fourth: That we commend his intelligent activity and efficiency as a church member and officer, that we honor his memory as a Christian, gentle and valuable fellow citizen.
Resolved, Fifth: That we call special attention to his generous hospitality. It was his wish that his home might be a stopping place for visiting and traveling preachers who ever found a warm welcome from him.
Resolved, Sixth: That we commend his unmurmuring patience during his long afflictions.
Resolved, Seventh: That we deeply sympathize with his bereaved wife, children, and relatives.
Resolved, Eighth: That a copy of these resolutions be sent to his widow and a copy printed in the Times-Journal and a copy spread upon our church record.
Adopted by the Campbellsville Baptist Church, October 13th, 1895.
