Warren Lyckman, 91, of Hillsboro passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013 in Joplin, Missouri. He was born May 19, 1921 in Brady, Texas to John and Jenny (Anderson) Lyckman.

After graduating from Brady High School in 1938 he moved to Austin where he attended business college. Shortly before World War II he went to work in the chief clerk’s office of the State Department in Washington, D.C.

With the outbreak of war he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served in the pacific theater primarily in naval intelligence as a code breaker. Following his military service he went to Rice University where he was involved with the V-12 program until its closing. He then went on to the University of Texas where he earned his BBA degree in 1948.

After graduation Warren joined the staff of Pan American Oil Company in Tulsa. It was there he married Darlyn Kays in September of 1951. The couple lived in Calgary, Fort Worth and New Orleans during his years with Pan American before purchasing the White’s Auto Store in Hillsboro in May of 1967. Warren was an avid reader and also enjoyed spending his summers in the mountains of Idaho. He was a past member of the Hillsboro Rotary Club and a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church for more than 45 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Darlyn in 1994; three brothers, Edward, Buster and Boyd Lyckman; three sisters, Gibert Lyckman, Margie Vowell and Jeanette Andrews and a great-grandson, Logan Lyckman.
