Mrs. William Thorne died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joseph Rankin near Freedom school house, on Wed. morning, having suffered a stroke of paralysis on June 22 from which she never rallied. Funeral services will be held at Union Church this afternoon, Rev. Cornelius Airhart in charge. Interment in Union Cemetery. Sarepta Mitchell Thorne was the daughter of Alfred and Samantha Deere Mitchell and was born on the old Mitchell homestead, lately owned by S.W. McCormick, 78 years ago. She married William Thorne who died 16 years ago. They lived for some time in Missouri, and later lived on the farm now occupied by Joseph Rankin. To them were born 3 children: Charles Thorne and Mrs. Fannie Stewart, now deceased, and Mrs. Joseph Rankin. There also survive, three sisters: Mrs. Frances M. Connor, Mrs. George Canine and Mrs. Gilbert Blake. She had enjoyed very fair health up to the time of the fatal seizure. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
