"Final Rites Held for F.A. Smith - Frederick Arthur Smith, 78, passed away December 18, 1961 at Yakima. Mr. Smith was born in Centerville, February 25, 1883. He was a graduate of Klickitat Academy and in 1905 he graduated from the University of Washington law school. In September 1905, he was married to Elsie Coffield, who preceded him in death, dying September 19, 1935. He then married Lulu Spalding August 9, 1936, and she to preceeded him in death, October 13, 1958. Mr. Smith was a former sheriff and prosecuting attorney. He was associated with Irving S. Bath in the Goldendale Sentinel. At one time Mr. Smith was associated with the State Bank of Goldendale. In 1935 he returned to private law practice. He is survived by four daughters, Lucile Cavanaugh, Adria Watson, Doris Remley, and Margery Davis; two sisters, Grace Bird of California, and Edna Brown, Olympia; six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren."
