Services for Daniel Boone Gillis Jr., 90, of Clovis will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel. Elder T. Ray Little will officiate.
Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Gillis died Saturday at Plains Medical/Clovis. He was born Feb. 12, 1906, in Weatherford, Texas.
Mr. Gillis married Nellie Mae Patterson in 1936 in Clovis. He served in the U.S. Army as a gunsmith. He also was an iron worker in construction trade, doing the steel in many older buildings in the area.
Mr. Gillis was a member of the North Side Church of Christ.
He is survived by one daughter, Reta Mae Akers, Kwajalein, Marshall Islands; two sons, Donald L. Gillis and Olan L. Gillis, both of Clovis; one brother, Clarence Gillis, Borger, Texas; two sisters, Roberta Moore, Memphis, Tenn., and Imondene Alexander, Ontario, Calif.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his paretns, Daniel B. and Willie Clifford Gillis, Clovis; three sisters and six brother; and by his wife, Nellie Mae Gillis, Clovis.
Casket bearers will be Mike Gillis, Scott Akers, Sarge Autrey, Bill Akers, Merle Chase and Paul McFatter.
Honorary bearers will be all Gillis' friends.
