Harold Hermon, 86, of Truth or Consequences, N.M., formerly of Peoria and Farmington , died at 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at his residence.

Born June 20, 1911, in Springfield to Edward and Julia Williams Hermon, he married Veda Fern Richard on Aug. 3, 1940, in Burlington, Iowa. She died Jan. 7, 1982. Three sisters and four brothers also preceded him in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Willyne Reck of Truth or Consequences; two brothers, Edward of Chicago and Joe of Rushville; one sister, Rose Marie Hermon of Springfield; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was a telegrapher for Western Union at several locations in Illinois for 52 years, retiring in 1980. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington. The Rev. Bruce Ghitalla will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Farmington.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
