Cora was a lifelong resident of Van Zandt County. The last six and half months of her life had been spent in hospitals at Tyler and Jacksonville. Her parents were pioneers of the Martins Mill area. She was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Canton, where her funeral services were held.

She was survived by four daughters; Mrs. H.P. Riemel of Tyler, Mrs. Howard Ellis of Grand Saline, Mrs. Baker Cox of Canton and Mrs. S. H. Easley of Athens; and two sons, Dr. J.K. Bateman of Tyler and C.C. Bateman of Athens.
