Catherine Gibbs Deavor, 85, of Gadsden, passed away March 5, 2005.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 8, at 1 p.m. from the Chapel of Collier Butler Funeral Home.

Family will receive friends and family Tuesday from 11 a.m. tile 12:45 p.m. at Collier Butler Funeral Home.

Mrs. Deavor was a native and life long resident of Etowah County.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Willie and
Willie Gibbs; her son, Ronald Deavor; her husband, Chester "Slim" A. Deavor and six brothers.

She was a graduate of Gadsden High School Class of 1938, graduate of Jacksonville State University and received her Masters from the University of Alabama.

She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma, an honor society for teachers.

She was a charter member of the North Gasden Presbyterian Church and an elder of Trinity Presbyterian Church where she also taught Sunday School for many years.

She is survived by her children, Dr. William C. "Dub" (Patricia) Deavor of Selma, Carolyn (Richard) Hammond of Gadsden, Kay ( Vernon) Headrick of Huntsville, Ann Deavor and Chris (Brenda) Deavor, both of Gadsden; 13 loving grandchildren, 12 loving great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews; special caregivers Phyllis Pike and Helen Rutledge.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be Alacare Home Health Hospice
