Mary or Maria Dorthea Rader was born in Toledo, OH.The family first lived in Toledo, OH, after coming from Germany (baby sister Maria Lisette, died in the USA, enroute to Cook Co, IL}, then moved on to Proviso Township or Harlem, Cook Co, IL, where her twin brothers, William and Louis, were born in 1860. Her mother's family had moved to this area in approximately 1847. Her parents moved on once more, to Blue Earth County, MN (first, South Bend on the south side of Mankato, and then settled in Rapidan Twp). She met and married her husband, Henry Byersdorf/Beyersdorff, in Blue Earth County, MN, where their son, Frederick, and oldest daughter, Bertha, were born. They moved on then to Brown's Valley, in MN, or in what was known as "Dakota Territory", where they ran a hotel for years. The hotel burned in abt 1916, and Mary moved to Minneapolis, MN, where her two daughters were living. Henry and Frederick had homesteaded in Alberta, Canada, and Henry died there in 1922. She later moved to the LA area of California, with her daughters and their husbands. She had one grandson, who married, but had no children. Mary died 23 Apr 1948 in the Los Angeles area. She is buried in her daughter and son-in-law's plot. Rest in peace, Mary. We think of you back here in Minnesota! SJR
