Arminda, who was called Mindy, a diminutive of Minda, was born to John White and Elizabeth Westmoreland White in Texas, probably in Collin County, where the White family was living in 1860.

Although some family members believed Minda was born in Minnesota and had Native American heritage through her mother, on each federal census in which she was enumerated--in 1860 (as Malinda instead of Minda), 1870, 1880, 1900, 1910, 1920, 1930, and 1940--her place of birth was given as Texas, and on all the censuses her race was given as "White." A Minnesota census shows the John White family living in Minnesota in 1865, but the places of birth of the children indicate that they lived in several states--Texas, Missouri, Illinois, and Iowa.

Minda was 30 years old when she married Harry Morris in Laclede County, Missouri, on 21 Dec 1890. She and Harry had four children: Blanche, Mae, Tom, and Lennie, all born in Missouri.

On the 1900 US census the Morris family was residing in Hooker Township, Laclede County, Missouri. On the 1910 Census the family was living in Warm Springs, Arkansas, in Randolph County. By the 1920 Census they had moved to Baker in the same county. In 1924 Harry died in Randolph County and was buried in the New Home Cemetery in Tucker, Missouri.

On 17 Oct 1927 Minda's half sister, Mandania Doak, died. In her obituary was the following: "One brother, Thomas White, of Naponee [Nebraska] and a sister, Mrs. Susan Coons, of Delaware, Oklahoma, and one half sister, Julia [Moore], have also preceded her. Besides her husband, Hugh Doak, her sisters, Mrs. Izilla Sweet of Canton, Ill, Mrs. Rachel Pardoe, of Naponee, and three half sisters, Hannah [Milligan], Mary [Milligan], and Arminda [Morris] all of Buckner, Mo., and one half brother Ed [John Edward] White, of Kansas City, Mo....who mourn her passing."

After Harry's death Minda lived in turn with her daughters, Mae Morris Prevett, in Warm Springs Township, Randolph County, Arkansas, and Blanche Morris Crim, in Sherley Township, Ripley County, Missouri. Minda lost her eyesight some years before her death and spent most of her time in a rocking chair, chewing tobacco.

On 2 Dec 1944, Minda died in the Doniphan, Missouri, area; cause of death was arteriosclerosis. She was buried the next day in the New Home Cemetery in Tucker, Missouri.
