DORIS A. CONFER 8/27/37 - 9/8/04 It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the death of our mother. She was a woman of great strength, intellect, drive, character and compassion whose personal and professional success are her legacy. Her career in the health care profession is a testament to her belief that all individuals should first and foremost be treated with respect and dignity. She was truly a self motivated and self educated person who advanced from an entry level office worker to become Administrator/CEO of Pacifica Community Hospital in Huntington Beach, California. Never being one to remain idle, her retirement years were spent helping others through involvement in many charitable organizations including the Spirt of America, preparing tax returns for members of AARP, the gate keeper program, the Santa Barbara Museum and Library as well as many others. For the person she was and for the people she nurtured us to become, we are eternally proud to be recognized as her children. If you wish to acknowledge her passing, she asked that a contribution be made to the City of Hope.
