Had migrated from Jefferson county to Newton county, Missouri with family before 1860 census, (Granby's lead discovered around 1850, population by 1855, about 8,000, Union won Battle of Granby OCT 1862, town created 1875, mines petered out after World War Two).
Census: 1860, age 11 Granby, Newton county, Missouri with parents & four siblings, one older.
My father's namesake and uncle, James Luke, had also migrated from the tin mines of Cornwall, England to the lead mines of Granby in 1874.
Census: 1880, age 32 Joplin, Jasper county, Missouri with husband & five children, husband an engineer.
Death: in Jasper county, Missouri, burial most likely (?) with parents in Granby Memorial cemetery, Granby, Newton county, Missouri.
Father: William Henry Harrison Winchester b: 24 SEP 1813 Jefferson county, Indiana.
Mother: Diana D Melton b: MAR 1816 Hart county, Kentucky.
Marriage: John Carroll Bailey b: 1844 Franklin county, Missouri.
Married 16 MAR 1866 Franklin county, Missouri.
Known Children
William Carroll Bailey b: about 1867 Missouri.
John Harrison Bailey b: 17 OCT 1868 Missouri.
Posey Bailey b: May 1870 Missouri. (?)

Pioneers of the Six Bulls , Vol IV by Larry James . In this book is his canvass in 1972 where he lists Alonzo, Barbara Ann, Elijah, Elza, Hosea, Susan, Susan, ( 2 dif Susan's) and William C. Bailey all in the old Cemetery not in Granby Memorial. Course it is called Odd Fellows and IOOF depending on who has lived in Granby the longest. They still call Granby Memorial the new one.
