Celestin Karlin, 83, 1713 MacArthur, died Friday, Sept. 20 at St. Anthony Hospital. He was born June 23, 1902 in Catherine to Alois E. and Anna Leikam Karlin.

He married Josephine Staab Nov. 15, 1927 in Catherine. She died April 26, 1984.

He was a retired farmer and a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 18th and Vine.

Survivors include three sons, Alfred, Omar and Jerry, all of Hays; four daughters, Alfreda Hammerschmidt, Wanda Schulte, Patricia Kreutzer, and Gerri Hensley, all of Hays; a brother, Joe E., Hays; a sister, Cryilla Karlin, Hays; 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Fathers Steve Heina and Timothy Gottschalk and Paulinus Karlin officiated; burial was in the St. Severin Cemetery.

Casket Bearers were Steve Hammerschmidt, Rickey Kreutzer, Mony Feltis, Dale Pfannenstiel, Kevin Karlin and John Kreutzer.
