Lone Pine and Inyo County has lost one of its best citizens in the death of Mrs. Evelyn Hancock, Monday evening, December 8. Mrs. Hancock was apparently quite well up until two or three days before the end. What caused her sudden failing is not known, and it is presumed that her rather untimely death was due to old age. However, she emigrated with her husband from the plains of the middle west to the rugged mountains of California, and has been a resident of Lone Pine for over 30 years. Her husband died 9 years ago. Mrs. Hancock is survived by only three daughters, seven sons, and over forty grand-children. The sons in Lone Pine, are: Amos, Hiram, Thomas and John of Bishop. There is one son in Georgia and two in Nevada. The daughters are; Mrs. Dodge, Mrs. Meysan, of Lone Pine and Mrs. Linge of Nevada. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, A. W. Ramsey, officiating and one of Inyo County's grand old citizens was laid to her final rest.—Mt. Whitney Observer.
