Alice Lou Berry, 96, of Monroe City, Missouri, passed away 5:25 am. Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the Monroe City Manor, Monroe City, Missouri. She was born May 1, 1916 in Ralls County Missouri the daughter of Milton G. and Bertha Frances Chisham Thompson. Allice attended Hassard Country School in Ralls County, Missouri. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church were she was a member of the Altar Society and the Holy Rosary prayer group. She was an avid volunteer at the Monroe City Nutrition Center. Alice was previously employeed by the Henderson Produce Company, Monroe City, also she worked for the Rainbow Motel, Monroe City and worked for Monroe City R.1. School district as a cook. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, flowers and most of all spending time with her family who she loved very much. Alice was the last surviving sibling of eight children. She married Otis F. Berry October 8, 1935, he passed away January 7, 1997. Survivors include one son: Fred Berry and wife Etta, Monroe City, Missouri. Three grandchildren: Tory Berry and wife Loretta, Gillette, Arkansas; Carol Diana Kraft and husband Victor, Bend, Oregon; and David Alan Berry and wife Twyla, Columbia, Missouri. Also survived by six great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, one sister in law, Emily Thompson, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers: William, Stanley, Angelo, Lewis and Manning Thompson. Also preceded by 2 sisters: Helena Frances Counors and Mary Jarman. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 am. Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Monroe City, Missouri, Fr. Mike Penn will officiate, burial will be from the Holy Rosary Cemetery, Monroe City. Visitation will be from 5:00 till 7:00 pm Friday evening with the Parrish having a scripture service beginning at 7:00 pm from the Garner Funeral Home, Monroe City. Active Pallbearers will be David Berry, Jeremy Berry, Carl Thompson, Phil Thompson, Joe Thompson and Johnny Bill Thompson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tony Berry, Carol Kraft, Bill Miles, Keith Hays, Joe Ralph Buckman, Gene Howes, Don Perrine and Alvin Thompson. Memorials have been suggested to the Monroe City Nutrition Center or Donors Choice. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Garner Funeral Home and Chapel, Monroe City, Missouri.
