Elmer Emmett Soule was born in Lebam, Pacific, Washington, on 24 Oct 1911. His parent's were Elmer Mert Soule and Mary Anne Guggenbickler. They were married in Tacoma, Washington, on 14 Jan 1905, by Father Stylebos, a Catholic Priest. Their marriage certificate was issued for the same day by the Auditor for Pacific County, Washington. Mary Anne was the oldest daughter of Joseph and Maria [Fishbach] Guggenbickler. Her parent's remains are interred behind the Holy Family Catholic Church of Frances, Pacific, Washington. Mary had entered the New York Harbor with her parent's as a young girl and they and two other children [Margaret and Joseph] had traveled from Germany to start a dairy farm near Saint Louis, Marion County, Oregon.

Joseph Jr. was the eldest son of Maria and Joseph Guggenbickler and likely inherited the farm. But, his life was greatly changed by a mental illness that took over his remaining time on earth.

Elmer Emmett Soule served in the U. S. Navy during WWII from 16 Sep 1942 until 11 Nov 1945. It was about this time that Elmer moved his family to the City of Los Angles. These must have been difficult years of separation while he served in the U. S. Navy.

NOTE: Tacoma was a main railroad hub. The trip to Tacoma would have been an easy one for those wanting to be married. Their marriage was 'witnessed' by a Guggenbickler family member as seen on their marriage registration in Pacific County.
