MACON, GA-Mr. Guy Jackson, 81, died Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at Lizella Baptist Church on Friday, February 15 at 2 o'clock. Entombment will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery's Veteran's Mausoleum. The Rev. Shannon Back, Rev. Doug Davis, and Rev. Chris Minton will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Gideon's International, Bibb West Crawford Camp, P.O. Box 28665, Macon, GA 31221-8665.

Mr. Jackson was born in Buchanan, TN to the late David Lynndsey and Rubye Lee Kirkland Jackson. He attended the University of Florida and Macon State College, and was in the United States Air Force. During his 24 year military service, he was a part of the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War, retiring as a First Sergeant with the 78th Air Base Wing. He also retired from Equitable Insurance Company after 35 years of service, where he was inducted to the company's Hall of Fame. Mr. Jackson was a very active member of Lizella Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and was a member of the Heavenly Bound Sunday School Class. For over 30 years, Mr. Jackson served his community as a Gideon, and had recently been honored as a 50 year Mason. Mr. and Mrs. Jackson celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on January 31.

Surviving Mr. Jackson are his wife of 60 years, Liz Jackson of Macon; sons, Gary (Denise) Jackson of Macon, Edward Jackson of Marietta; daughters, Julia Lyles of Macon, Debbie Mullis of NC; grandchildren, Jeremy (Crystal) Mullis and Jason Mullis; Jerry, Jessica (Justin "JR") Hall, Justin Lyles; Melissa (Jonathan) Bagley, Matthew, Megan, and Madison Jackson; great grandchildren, Kaiden Lyles, Maddox Hall, Caleb Goss Lyles, Alexandria and Annabelle Mullis; sisters, Betty Owen, Joy (George) Greengrass all of TN; brothers in law, Ernest (Gail) Thomas of Bolingbroke, John Lee (Esther) Thomas of McRae; sisters in law; Nan Tedders of Milan, GA, Dale (James) Carrell of Statesboro; numerous nieces and nephews.
