Evening Times, Cumberland, Maryland, Monday, July 26, 1954: "FROSTBURG--Mrs. Ellen E. (Barry) Rooney, 88, of Mt. Pleasant Street, died yesterday. She had been in failing health for some time. The widow of Michael Rooney, she leaves five daughters, Miss Mary Rooney, Baltimore; Mrs. Charles Lewis, Eckhart; Mrs. Helen Cain, Mrs. Joseph Finn, and Mrs. Lawrence Barry, Frostburg; two sons, Martin Rooney, Washington, and Francis Rooney, Frostburg; a sister, Mrs. Catherine Stitzer (sic-should be Spitzer) Baltimore; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mrs. Rooney was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. The body is at the Hafer Funeral Home. A requiem mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Michael's Church. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Cain, James Brailer, Charles and Francis Lewis, Larry Barry and Stephen Kenny."
