Hiram Sims, Sr. (my 3d great-grandfather) was the son of John "Jack" Sims and Mariah Ann Jane McGee. He married Mary Lucinda "Mollie" Abercrombie on March 31, 1809 in South Carolina. She was the daughter of Calvin/Colvill Abercrombie and Mary Lindley.

Their 12 children were Calvin Alexander, Lucinda, Hiram Newton Jr., Paul, John Silas, Jeremiah Pratus, Alfred, *Elizabeth Ann (Henderson), Martha A., Starling T., Mary and Clearborne Sims.

The name was originally spelled Simms.
