Barbara grew up in Crosbyton, but Arlington had been her home for the past 58 years. She attended Texas State College for Women in Denton before she started working for Bell Helicopter. She worked for Bell for 45 years before retiring in 2001. Barbara volunteered for Medical Center of Arlington after her retirement. Barbara was born on Dec. 13, 1935, to Leslie and Annie Pearl Miller.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Doug Self; and her grandson, Jerry Don Self. Survivors: She is survived by her son, Mike Self of Arlington; her grandson, Sgt. 1st Class Michael Self of the Army; brothers, Frank Miller of Bayside, Les Miller of Palm Springs, Calif., Randall Miller of Crosbyton; sister, Jenalou Hunsucker of Austin; and many nieces and nephews.
