Through his long illness Mr. Langholf had been a patient sufferer and his family have been most considerate and thoughtful of his comfort. He was a kind husband and father and his passing is a blow to the family and many friends.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 o'clock Wednesday afternoon from the home, with burial at Lawnridge cemetery at Rochelle.--Rochelle News.
Ferdinand (Fred) Langholf first came to North Park around 1879; at that time he lived on the Little Laramie, near Millbrook, Wyoming. He brought cattle and horses in for Charley Hutton to graze for the summer. Mr. Hutton's son, George, came with him but got homesick and went home. These cattle were grazed in the area around the State Line Ranch.
Fred and his wife, Evelyn Caroline, had three children Doug, Bessie and Ed. Doug was born on a ranch near Laramie, went to school in Wyoming and later in Walden, where he came from Wyoming with his mother, brother and sister. He was married to Bertha Kerr. They were ranchers.
Ed married and had three sons, Ed, Dale and Ernie. Doug and Bertha raised Dale as their own son.
Bessie married Charlie Riggen and they had one daughter, Irene. Irene married Harold Semple, the only son of th Dave Semples, a pioneer family. Harold and Irene had seven children-- Harold, Robert, Douglas, Edith (Boston), Thelma (Root), Fern (Chambers), and Marjorie (Butlerr).
Later Bessie married Harry Green. They lived on a ranch west and south of Walden. Ernie Langholf made his home with them. Bessie's mother made her home with Bessie and Harry Green, too, for many years.
In later years Doug worked at the Big Horn Ranch for Carl Hanson. He then made his home in Walden a few months and lived next door to Frank Mosman and the two old timers had some great times together, talking of the good old days.
