Mr. Royal Penn, 78, of the Mannsville Community, son of the late Anna Lindsey and Harlan D. Penn, was born in Taylor County, March 15, 1890. He died suddenly Wednesday afternoon, February 5th, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Rex Hankins at New Whiteland, Indiana. He had been visiting there for the past three months. He was a retired farmer and at one time owned and operated the Penn's Grocery at Acton for six years. He united in marriage to Miss Thomas Ann Pruett some fifty-three years ago. She preceded him in death, April 27, 1960. To this union one daughter was born, Mrs. Rex Hankins of New Whiteland, Indiana. Besides his daughter, he is survived by four grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters: Wallace and Howard Penn, Mrs. Frank Murphy and Mrs. Fayette Carroll all of Mannsville. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, February 7th, in the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home with the Rev. Russell East officiating. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Bryce Gabehart, John Hogan, Ezra Caffee, Dewey Jones, Johnny Pennington, and Bruce Dabney.
