Mrs. Cranford was born in Carlisle on Dec. 14, 1943, a daughter of the late Vernon Vester Abee and Irene (Decker) Abee.
Employed with Sonoco Products, she was of the Presbyterian Faith but attended Unity United Methodist Church where she was active in Relay for Life with the American Cancer Society.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are a son and daughter-in-law, Anthony Scott Cranford and wife Rhonda of Spartanburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan Cranford Grady and husband Scott of Lexington; four grandchildren, Erinn Katelyn Grady, Benjamin Dallas Grady, Sarah Catherine Cranford and Hannah Elizabeth Cranford; two brothers, Vernon V. Abee Jr. and William Franklin (Billy) Abee, both of Union; and a sister, Ellen A. Duckett of Whitmire.
Funeral services were held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at the S. R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Richard Lewis, Rev. Clayton Price and Rev. Billy Sumner. Burial was in Union Memorial Gardens.
The body remained at the funeral home where the family received friends 7:00-9:00 p.m. Monday, August 23, 2004.
Mrs. Cranford was predeceased by a brother, Robert Lee Abee.
Memorials could be made to the Unity United Methodist Church, Relay for Life, 206 Hart Street, Union, SC 29379.
The family wished to thank the staff of Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, Gibbs Cancer Center, the doctors and nurses of Palmetto Hematology Oncology, Spartanburg Regional Hospice, Dr. Cavert McCorkle, Dr. Patricia Griffin, Dr. James D. Bearden and Regina Henry for their dedication and support.
