HANNER Hazel Hennington Hanner went Home to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday morning, February 6, 2013 at the age of 78, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 8, 1934, in Pattison Mississippi. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother, and had a love for traveling. She is survived by Benny Patrick Hanner, her husband of 57 years; her daughters, Robin Hanner Major and Suzanne Hanner Lambert; her son-in-law, Bruce Lambert, and granddaughters, Jessica Angelle Lambert, Wendi Nicole Major, Brooke Hannah Lambert and Emily Kaye Major. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret Hennington Mitchell of Utica, MS and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter Lamar and Katie Mae Hennington; her sisters, Bobbie Hennington Dillion and Shirley Hennington Gallier; her brother, Walter Lamar Hennigton, Jr. and her grandson, Matthew B Lambert. Although she was born in Pattison, Mississippi, she was raised in Port Gibson, Mississippi. She then moved to the New Orleans area in 1953 where she remained throughout her life. She was a 1952 graduate of Port Gibson High School, then attended the Western Union Business School in Oklahoma City and moved to New Orleans to work for Western Union as a teletype operator, then as a secretary for Humble Oil. She has been a full-time homemaker since 1966. She was an active member of Parkview Baptist Church in Metairie and has led many people to the Lord. Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Dr., Metairie, LA on Saturday, February 9, 2013, at 11:00 am officiated by Dr. Bill Day of Parkview Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. Following the service, interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Donations may be made in Hazel's memory to The Alzheimer's Association , www.alz.org. On-line condolences available at www.gardenofmemoriesfuneralhome.com
