She was the daughter of James Ward b. 01 Apr 1802 in Frederick Co., Maryland and d. 25 Jan 1828 in Cumberland, Allehany Co., Maryland. Her mother was Cordelia Rosetta Clary b. 1801 in Frederick Co, MD. abd d. 04 Apr 1854. Mary's parents ran a tavern/inn in Cumberland. At her father's death, she was sent to live with her uncle Jonathan Clary (wife Frances Newman), Mary Ward and Daniel Keller were married on 19 Jan 1853 in Harrisonburg, Rockingham Co., Virginia by Rev. Thomas D. Bell. Jonathan Clary lived in Rockingham Co., Virginia. Mary Ward Keller had 5 children, but only 2 had lived to adulthood. When Daniel Keller died, she sold the farm and moved into Middletown.
