Donald A. Lee, 83, Minot, died Friday, February 1, 2013 in a Minot assisted living facility.

Donald Alan Lee was born March 5, 1929 in Minot, ND, to Richard and Sylvia (Kragness) Lee. He was raised in Douglas, ND, where he attended school, and later attended Minot High School. At the age of 17 Donald enlisted in the United States Navy. He served on the U.S.S Huntington during World War II. Following his honorable discharge he returned to North Dakota.

Donald married Ardis Skarstad on August 1, 1950 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Minot. He worked most of his life in the trucking industry and owned and operated Northwest Transport for many years. Donald and Ardis operated the Riverside Motel in Minot starting in 1984. Ardis retired from there in 1994, but Don continued to work there until 2007 when he retired. Ardis passed away on March 9, 2006. Donald was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Minot.

Those who shared in his life, sons, Rodney (Pamela) Lee, Blaine, MN and Rick (Julie) Lee, Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Nicholas Lee, Jessica Lee, Cassandra (Adam) Larson, Kristin (Jeremy) Lewandowski, Richard (Karla) Lee and Katrina Eriksen; great-grandchildren, Trystan Perez, Henry, Anna and Grace Lewandowski, Sophie and Eli Lee, and Everett Larson; sister, Arlene Nelson, Minot; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Ardis; his parents; and half-brother, Jim Alfstad, and brother-in-law, Wayne Nelson.

Funeral: Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot, ND. Visitation: Monday, February 4, 2013, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
