Isaac was the son of Abraham L. and Jane (Davis) Keener.

He married Melissa Jane Enyeart on 29 March 1873 in Wabash County, Indiana. They were the parents of seven children.

From the Journal Gazette in Fort Wayne, Indiana ... Sunday, May 7, 1916

Isaac Keener, aged 68 years, died yesterday at St. Joseph's Hospital. The deceased came to Fort Wayne from Logansport three weeks ago to make his home with a son, Benjamin Keener, 433 Huffman Street. eight days ago he was removed to the hospital. Surviving are four daughters, two sons, one brother and a sister.

Isaac Keener, an old time citizen of this vicinity, passed away at a sanatorium in Fort Wayne last Monday and was buried in the Odd Fellows Cemetery at this place last Tuesday. Mr. Keener had been failing in health for some time past, and the death of his son but a few weeks since rather hastened the end. Mr. Keener was a resident practically all his life of this locality and leaves a family of several members and a number of friends and relatives to mourn his departure.
Isaac was the son of Abraham L. and Jane (Davis) Keener.
