Mrs. Lewis was born March 30, 1930, in Burlington, Colorado, the daughter of Lawrence and Harriet (McCannon) Sater.
She moved to the Neosho/Joplin area in October 1974 from Lawson, Missouri. She was the co-owner with her husband, Bill, of the Hickory Creek Plaza, Lewis Lawn Care and Garden Delicious Foods. She also worked at Tyson Foods and retired from there in 1995. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Neosho.
Mary married Wm R. "Bill" Lewis on June 5, 1948, at Mountain Home, Arkansas and he survives.
Additional survivors include five children, Christy Barron and husband, Tom, Rayville, Missouri, Julita Harris and husband, Ed, St. Joseph, Missouri, twins, Sam Lewis, Joplin, Missouri, and Sandy Hamann and husband, Dwight, St. Joseph, Missouri, and Bill Lewis, Jr., Neosho; a daughter-in-law, Susie Parsons, Wichita, Kansas; two brothers, Alfred Sater and wife, Lorraine, Longmont, Colorado, and Don Sater, Commerce City, Colorado; one sister, Viola Nichols and husband, Bruce, Longmont, Colorado; 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Kurt Parsons, two brothers, Edgar and Albert Sater and three sisters, Gracie Sater, Pauline Schieck and Martha Squires.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 24, 2006, at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Elder Kenneth Simpson and Pastor Pat Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in the Neosho Memorial Park Cemetery and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
