Mr. Harrington died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, June 28, 2009. He was born on November 4, 1925 in Raleigh, NC. He was the son of Ethel and Thomas A. Harrington, Sr.
After graduating from high school, Mr. Harrington joined the U.S. Marine Corps and proudly served his country for four years during WWII in the Pacific Islands. He was discharged with the rank of Corporal. He then entered N.C. State University and graduated with honors with a degree in engineering. He was immediately hired by E.I. DuPont where he worked until his retirement in 1983. You could tell by all his friends he was a people person.
Mr. Harrington then formed Harrington Environmental Services with one of his sons. In 2001 he retired to enjoy traveling, ocean cruises, trips to the coast, and working in his yard. He was a lover of all animals and especially liked playing with his dog Candy. Tom was an active member of Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church.
He was survived by his wife of 60 years, Norma Bagley Harrington; son, Thomas A. Harrington, III of Harrisburg, NC; son, John Bagley Harrington of Camden, SC; son, and daughter-in-law Gregory Charles and Gail Burch Harrington ; grandchildren, Brooke Alexa and Gregory Charles "Chase" Harrington, Jr. of Rock Hill, SC
