Peter P. Gondek, 70, of 118 Belchertown Road, Palmer, 35-year owner of Pete's Barbershop, died Wednesday, July 9 at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield.

He formerly worked for Gus' Barbershop, Indian Orchard section of Springfield.

A lifelong resident of this town, he was an Army veteran of World War II, and served with the Combat Engineers in the European Theater.

He as active in the AMVETS Post, and also a member of the American Legion post, Polish American Citizens Club and St. Stanislaus Polish Club.

He leaves two sisters, Mary, with whom he lived, and Julia Smith of Michigan City, Ind.

The funeral was Saturday at Motyka & Son Funeral Home and in Sts. Peter and Paul Church with burial in St. Ann's Cemetery.
