Jo Shipman, 93, of Lubbock was born July 26, 1919 in Durham, Arkansas. She married Charles A. Shipman on July 11, 1942 in Ropesville. She previously worked at St. Mary of the Plains Hospital Cafeteria, P.F. Brown Elementary School Cafeteria, and J.T. Hutchinson Junior High Cafeteria. Jo was a member of the first graduating class of Roosevelt High School in 1936. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church. She volunteered registering children at Highland's Vacation Bible School. Jo also helped with the mailing of the Lubbock Area Baptist Association's newsletter. Jo was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers; and two sisters. Survivors include a son, Charles A. Shipman, Jr. (Barbara) of Amarillo, Texas; three daughters, Charla King (Charlie) of Las Vegas, Nev., Phyllis Boyer (Ron) of Lubbock, and Valerie Franks (Larry) of Watauga; 13 grandchildren plus 7 spouses; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and numerous other relatives.
