Joplin Deaths - 1974 - Earl E. Cornell

Earl E. Cornell, 82, Spring City Community, south of Joplin, died at 9 p.m. Tuesday at a local nursing home where he had been a patient since November 30th.

Mr. Cornell was born December 28, 1891, in the Hornet Community. He had been a grocery man his entire lifetime, first be associated with his father and in his latter years with his two sons. Cornell Grocery Store in Spring City has been in the same location since 1902. He was a member of Beef Branch Church of Christ and a lifetime member of the A-TA Lodge. He also was a former member of the Joplin Special Road District commission and past president and served on the Spring City School Board for 39 years. His wife, Clara Cornell, died March 26, 1957.

Surviving are seven sons, William Herbert Cornell and Karl Cornell, both of the home, Alvin Cornell, Joplin route 5, Vearl Cornell, Joplin route 2, Dr. Kenneth Cornell, 1136 W. 26th Street, Edwin Cornell, Neosho route 6 and Leo Cornell, Diamond route 1; two daughters, Mrs. Vera Kinkade, Neosho route 2 and Mrs. Leila Ferguson, Spring City; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the home of Mrs. Ferguson, one block east of the school at Spring City.
