Mrs. Pauline "Polly" Lockmiller, 82, of Clovis, a retired teacher, died Nov. 26, 2002, at her home.
She was born on Jan. 27, 1920, in Magazine, Ark., to Sam and Isephena Kennedy McCarson.
She graduated from Portales High School in 1938 and enrolled at Eastern New Mexico University. She married Ota "Tootie" Lockmiller on Oct. 8, 1939, in Roswell. The couple moved to the Lockmiller farm northwest of Ranchvale.
Twenty years later, she returned to ENMU to earn a bachelor's degree in elementary education and then a master's degree and education specialist degree.
She began teaching in 1957 at Lincoln-Jackson School and retired in 1978 from Zia Elementary. She was a member of Kingswood Methodist Church and Delta Kappa Gamma.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; three sisters, and gone great-grandchild.
She is survived by her husband; one son, LaRoy (and wife Deanna) Lockmiller of Clovis; one daughter, Kayren (and husband Jerry) Richardson of Pineville, La.; two sisters, Imogene Williams and Peggy Forrester, both of Alamogardo; one brother, Joe McCarson of Portales; seven grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Brad Reeves and Dr. Herbert Bergstrom will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Pallbearers will be gransons and great-grandsons, Brett and Corbin Lockmiller, Devin Richardson, Todd and Tyrell Northcutt, Tim Farris and Troy Vincent.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home.
