Per the book referenced below: s/o Wade and Ann Hampton.

From the book, A Divided Heart: Letters of Sally Baxter Hampton, 1853-1862, page xxiii: KIT. Frank's older brother, Christopher Fitzsimons Hampton, born August 11, 1821 at Millwood plantation. His farming operations were apparently confined to Mississippi, where he owned Linden plantation, and he made his South Carolina residence at Millwood, where his sisters made a home for his young daughter. During the Civil War he served on the staff of the governor of South Carolina. Died June 8, 1886. At the time of these letters he was a widower, as his wife Mary Elizabeth ("Bet") McCord (born December 6, 1821) had died February 17, 1848. Their only child Ann (born November 16, 1844) died unmarried on May 3, 1878.

Found in the book, Marriage and Death Notices from Columbia, South Carolina Newspapers, 1838-1860, by Brent Howard Holcomb, Certified Genealogist, 1988, page: 212: from the South Carolina Temperance Advocate, Issue of April 13, 1843: Married on the 28th ult., in St. Matthews Parish, by the Rev. Mr. Johnson, Col. C. F. Hampton, to Miss Mary Elizabeth, daughter of the late John McCord, Esq.
