Mrs. Jennings' maiden name was Mary Granger Burnett (Burnet). She was born in Hamilton County, Ohio, April 25, 1852. She moved with her parents to Blairstown, Iowa, in 1854. She grew to womanhood there, and was married to Charles G. Jennings, November 9, 1871. In 1881, the family moved to Shelbyville, Ind., and six years later to Kelly's Ferry, Tenn., coming to Emporia from that place in November 1890. When a young woman she united with the Methodist Church in Blairstown but transferred her membership to the Presbyterian Church soon after her marriage. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Emporia, and a charter member of the Knights and Ladies of Security, Lyon County Council No. 212. She was also a past vice-president of that order, which she joined January 21, 1895.

Webster, Council Bluffs, Iowa; Mrs. Julia Ferguson, Shenandoah, Iowa; Mrs. George P.Hall, Emmett, Idaho; Mrs. Edith Preston and Miss Lizzle Burnett (Burnet), of Mexico, Mo. Miss Burnett has been manager of the Western Union Telegraph Company in Mexico, for the past thirty years.
