Velma Leamer
Velma M. Leamer, age 98, of Darlington, passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Lafayette Manor in Darlington. She was born June 23, 1914 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Ruby (Hamm) Anderson. Velma was united in marriage to Walter J. Joseph, Dwain H. "Doc" Leamer, and Willard Bender, all who have preceded her in death. She lived in Ottumwa for a number of years before moving to Elburn, Ill., for five years. She later moved to St. Charles, Ill. until her retirement. Velma then moved to Darlington to be by her daughter, where she has lived for 25 years.

Velma is survived by two daughters: Lorraine Terrill of Darlington and Karen (Robert) Sandberg of Wheaton, Ill.; three grandchildren: Jill (John Noehring) Terrill of Bimidji, Minn., Heather (Stuart) Terrill-Stotts of DeForest, and Marlisa Best of Wheaton; nine great-grandchildren: Simon and Celeste Terrill Collins, Karyn and Carlton Best, Lacie, Pam, and Bryce Noehring, and Cerisa and Calli Obern; and special niece: Pat (Robert) Haring of Oswego, Ill. She was preceded in death by her husbands: Walter, Dwain, and Willard; two sons: Ronald Joseph and Robert Joseph; two brothers: Charles Anderson and John Anderson; and three sisters: Doris Bauscher, Virginia Schultz, and Mildred Fern Anderson.

Velma enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and abroad. She traveled to every continent in the world except Antarctica.

A private burial will be held in Union Grove Cemetery in Darlington in the spring. The Erickson Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Darlington is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
