Elizabeth Ann Bostic Beauchamp, age 67, of McDade, lost her long and courageous battle with cancer on January 30, 2013. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer on May 21, 2001, and was only given a 6 to 8 month life expectancy. She was very proud of her short term triumphs over cancer, and thankful that God gave her those victories. God placed many angels along her path. Elizabeth was so thankful to her physician, Dr. Steven Curley, and to his staff at MD Anderson, who were instrumental in her care.
Elizabeth was born June 3, 1945 in Elgin, TX to L.H. (Shorty) Bostic And Ruth Lawhon Bostic. She attended school in Lexington, TX, where she graduated in 1963. She had many classmates who remained lifelong friends of her.
Elizabeth was united in marriage on February 19, 1966, to Larry Wayne Beauchamp in Baton Rouge, LA. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Gary Wayne Beauchamp, Julie Dianne Beauchamp and Jason Warren Beauchamp.
All three were the pride and joy of her life and serving as their mother gave her the greatest sense of accomplishment. Elizabeth was a full time homemaker and raised her three children, alone, after the death of her husband in 1985. She was a devoted mother and a staunch advocate for each of her children and grandchildren.
Those who knew her well, would describe her as a fighter and a winner. She did not understand all the things that God allowed to occur in her life, however, as time passed, she was fully convinced that God knows those secret things and that she is just His instrument. It was not her job to understand.
Her faith in God increased as the adverse times persisted. God allowed her time to see her kids through. The week before she went to stay at her daughter's home to receive hospice care, she told family that she wanted to see a chaplain. She was secure with her relationship with Christ, but wanted to know some answers about what was coming.
Elizabeth knew more adversity than most. She handled it with dignity and class. She knew the Lord had a plan amidst trying episodes. Those episodes include: losing her husband in a car accident, watching her oldest son endure a traumatic brain injury as the result of a car accident, and enduring 2O plus years of painstaking care involving her youngest son's brain injury. As if this was not enough, her daughter, who was her constant helpmate and loyal aide, had to battle her own days with cancer. Elizabeth died in Julie's home at 1:37 pm, on January 29, 2013.
