Found in The State 02 March 1982: Mrs. Martha Lovvorn Melton, 71, of Heathwood Court Apartments, widow of William Davis Melton, died Monday at Baptist Medical Center. Born in Dawson, Ga., she was a daughter of the late William Barnes and Helen Cannon Lovvorn. Mrs. Melton was manager of Heathwood Court Apartments. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, the Columbia Garden Club and the Assembly Ball. Surviving are a son, Ralph Eugene Bradford Jr. of Columbia; a stepdaughter, Ann Melton Kimzey of Lookout Mountain, Tenn.; three brothers, Robert H. Lovvorn of Columbia, Dixon C. Lovvorn of New Orleans and William B. Lovvorn Jr. of Lakeland, Fla.; four sisters, Mrs. D. Reece Williams Jr. and Mrs. Stanley Zuk of Columbia, Mrs. George L. Black of Locust Grove, Va., and Mrs. Robert E. Rogers of Herndon, Va.; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Services will be held at 4 p.m. today in Elmwood Cemetery, conducted by Canon J. Lloyd Edwards.

Note: Martha and William, Jr. are buried on the Belser-Durham side of the family plot. William, Sr. and family are buried on the opposite side.
