Samson with his strength, Solomon with his wisdom, Alexander with his victories, Ceasar with his triumph, Croseus with his riches were not able to avoid death.
Paul said, "I die daily," let us say so with him, for God has called a much beloved father and deacon, Brother A. W. Tolbert, who was born 87 years ago to the late Nelson Tolber and Jane Braggs Tolbert.
Brother A. W.'s entire life was spent in the Rose Bank Community. He attended the Rose Bank Public School and joined the Rose Bank Baptist Church, at an early age. He showed signs of possessing a genuine religion and qualifications of a deacon, so he was ordained a deacon and proved faithful to that office. He was the church prayer leader and assistant Bible teacher, and he loved every phase of church work. he was ever ready to go where sent to see after less fortunate members.
Brother Tolbert was united in holy matrimony to Miss Josephine Williams on December 25, 1924; married for 63 years. To this union eleven children were born; three of whom preceded him in death.
He is survived by: his loving wife, Mrs. Josephine Tolbert; eight children, Leroy Tolbert of Detroit, MI, Josephine Torry, Doris Brooks, L. N. Moore, and Murphy Tolbert, all of Chicago, IL, Marie Matthews and A. W. Tolbert, Jr., both of Cleveland, OH, H. B. Tolbert of Tchula, MS; two brother-inlaw, four sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces and nephews.
