c. Nov. 1915 or 1916: Bertha Elizabeth (Palmer) Arend, Rankey, based on the writing on the back of one version of this photograph, taken "1915 or 1916, Thanksgiving at Bertha's home in Lansing." If this is correct, it was taken after 1st husband John C. Arend's death in 1910 and about the time of her 2nd marriage to Joseph D. Rankey (in 1915, Holt).

Photograph is cropped from larger photo taken which includes her mother, Libby Strayer and all her sisters, from my mother's archive. Bertha is my great-great aunt, and my grandmother was one of those three children raised by Bertha when she married my grandfather, Warren Carl Warner.

Bertha is about 57-61 years of age in this phot and Carl is two years younger.
