Angelina Cerniglia
RHINEBECK - Angelina Cerniglia, 85, a longtime resident of Poughkeepsie since 1926 and formerly of New York City, died Saturday, April 13, 2002 at the Baptist Home in Rhinebeck. Mrs. Cerniglia was a cleaning service employee for Central Hudson in Poughkeepsie, retiring in 1967. She was a member of St. Marys Church, Poughkeepsie and the First Saturday Club for the Handicapped. Born in New York City on July 22, 1916, she was the daughter of Santo and Catherine Cerniglia Affronti. She attended New York schools. On June 14, 1936 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie, she married Thomas P. Cerniglia. Mr. Cerniglia died September of 1976. Survivors include three sons, Thomas Cerniglia of Poughkeepsie, Carl Cerniglia of Fort Pierce, FL, and Donald Cerniglia of Poughkeepsie; one daughter, Patricia Muenkel of Raleigh, NC; a brother, Salvatore Affronti of Vero Beach, FL; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, John Affronti. Calling hours are 4-8 p.m., today, at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home Inc., 218 Mill Street, Poughkeepsie. Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated 10 a.m., Tuesday, from St. Marys Church, Poughkeepsie. Burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
