George William Barry, son of Henry Frederick and Anna Johanna (Gebauer) Barry was born August 14, 1915 at Akron, CO.

George died Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the Colonial Haven in Beemer, NE.

George moved to Battle Creek, NE. in the fall of 1930.

George served in the US Army Military Police from April 1942 until January 1946.

On April 17, 1943 he married Elizabeth Selph at Arlington, VA.

The Couple moved to Battle Creek, NE. March of 1946.

George was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where he served on their school board. He also served on the Board for the Battle Creek Co op for many years, and was a 60 year member of the American Legion Post 75. He served one term as District 2 County Commissioner.

George and his wife Libby managed the Madison County farm until its closing.

George is survived by: son, Bill and his wife, Bev Barry of West Point, NE., grandchildren Brenda (Rusty) Bartlett of Pender, NE., Patrick (Heather) Barry of Omaha, NE. and Bridget (Eric) Schultz of Adams, NE.; step granddaughter Alecia Unkel of Denver, CO.; and nine great grandchildren. sisters Anna Marquardt, and Marie Harper of Battle Creek, NE. and Minnie Eisenach of Phoenix, AZ. and sister in-laws Jeannie Barry and Louise Barry of Battle Creek, NE.

George was preceded in death by: wife, Elizabeth Barry; daughters in infancy and brothers, Fred, Bill, Louis, and Joe Barry.

Burial was in The St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Battle Creek, NE. with Military Rites by American Legion Post 60, VFW Post 4912 and American Legion Post 75.
