TULIA — Laverne Cagle, 85, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
Laverne was born Aug. 5, 1927, in Swisher County to Floyd Oliver and Amanda Amerson. She attended schools in Salem and graduated from Happy High School. She also graduated from Lippert's Business College. She was a homemaker. She married Dean Cagle on July 20, 1946. He died Oct. 20, 2004.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, four sisters and a grandson, Floyd Dean Hurt.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Hurt and Vesta Chitty, both of Tulia; a sister, Erdean Pickel of The Woodlands; a brother, Coy Gene Amerson of Eloy, Ariz.; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Swisher Memorial Building, 127 S.W. Second St., Tulia, TX 79088.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
