Pierce Leaphart, well known Lexington county merchant, died at the Baptist hospital at 9 o'clock last night after an illness of several weeks. He made his home at Gilbert but had several stores throughout the county. The body will be taken to Gilbert tomorrow and the funeral will be there tomorrow. Mr. Leaphart, who was a man of many fine traits of character and had many friends, was born December 8, 1860. © The State, Columbia, SC, 3 Feb 1923
