Judge John Pierre Hill (Ret.), 94, of Ingram, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2003, in a Kerrville hospital. Hill was born on May 13, 1908, in Lynchburg, Va., to Rev. Dr. P. B. Hill and Ella Thraves Hill.

He served his country faithfully during World War II, serving in the U. S. Army from 1942 to 1944. He married Margaret B. Dunk on May 13, 1940, in Beeville, Texas. Judge Hill was semi-retired from real estate investments and propane and oil sales. As Justice of the Peace, Judge Hill had preformed more than 500 weddings in three different languages.

He was an elder and charter member for First Presbyterian Church in Ingram. He devoted countless hours of volunteer service and was a member of the Hill County Shrine Club and was past president, Thirty Second Degree Scottish Rite-Royal Arch Mason, Knight's Templar and 50-plus year Master Mason, and Hi Twelve Masonic Club. He was awarded the Golden Trowel Award from the Grand Master of Masons. He also belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, Silver Wings Fraternity Aviation, OXS Club Aviation Pioneers, Hill County Peace Officer's Association, Chi Phi College Fraternity and charter member of the Hill County Cowboy Camp Meeting Association and past director of the Lions Club and helped organize the Crippled Children's Camp.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margaret Hill of Ingram; two sons, Capt. David Bernard Hill of Keller, Texas, and Douglas John Hill of Hunt; sister, Martha Evelyn Armstrong of San Antonio; brother, General David Lee Hill of San Antonio; nephew, Samuel B. Hill, Jr.; grandchildren, Jonathan Keklak, Diana Hahn, Clay Bates, Matt Bates, Doug Hill, Jr., Sydney Hill, Ella Hill and Abigail Hill; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Kevin and Kayla Hahn, Rhiannan and Shawna Bates, Bradley, LouAnn and Sandy Bates, Fred Lee and Katheryn Bates.

The family will receive friends at Grimes Funeral Chapels from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at Grimes Funeral Chapels, with the Rev. Ray Tear, Dr. Otis Moore and the Rev. Matias Rodriguez officiating. Masonic interment, along with VFW honors, will follow at Hunt Japonic Cemetery in Hunt.

Pallbearers will be members of the Masonic Lodge.
