Joseph W. Banks, 89, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the home of his son, Randy Banks, in Highland, Utah. Joe was born on April 21, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah to the late Benjamin Frederick Banks and Samantha Chloe (Berry) Banks.

He was a prisoner of war in Germany during World War II. He worked for General Motors most of his life and lived in Utah, California, Montana, Texas, Ohio, and most recently for 30+ years in Jacksonville, FL.

He is survived by his son, Randy W. Banks and his wife Linda of Highland, UT; his 2 daughters, Suzanne Grimes of South Jordan, UT; and Shelly Manning and her husband Bob of Jacksonville, FL; his sister, Jeanne Masters of Mesa, AZ; and his brother, Benjamin Banks of Salt Lake City, UT; his 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Afton (Anderson) Banks, 1 brother and 3 sisters.

The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, January 26, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, in Highland UT. The Graveside Service will take place at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd., Jacksonville, FL. Open to friends and family. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, 11801 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32223.
