My great grandmother was a homemaker and cook. She made paper flowers for extra money when there were no fresh flowers.

Her mother and her husbands father knew each other in school in White Oak Springs, SW Wisconsin. When their families came to Helena, Montana eventually she married James Henry Gilpatrick.

I was three in 1950 when she died. I remember my sister and I moving a step stairs to the back darkroom at the photo shop and seeing her in her wood coffin. My cousin Judith Claire was born in Spenard, now in Anchorage the same day she died.

She and her husband lived in the back quarters of the photo shop in Sitka with my grandmother Luella.
