GLEASON: Services for Ellis Franklin Trevathan, 92, were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 2 at the First United Methodist Church in Gleason with Rev. Mike Jeffers officiating. Interment followed in the Hopewell Cemetery. Mr. Trevathan died on Tuesday, November 30 at the Weakley County Nursing Home. He was born October 24, 1912 in Gleason to the late William Franklin and Rubye Ellis Trevathan. He was the retired owner of the Gleason Foundry and a member of the Rotary Club. He was preceded in death by a son, Ellis Franklin Trevathan II and one grandson, Alan Snider. Survivors include his wife, Rosa White Trevathan; six daughters, Rubye Snider of Gleason, Kaye Hynds of Martin, Rose Mary Evans of Tupelo, Mississippi, Nancy Wyman of Cedar Grove, Sue Price of Nashville and Anita Knowles of Franklin; one son, Jeter Trevathan of Memphis; one brother, Underwood "Woody" Trevathan of North Carolina; one sister, Anne Johnson of Martin, 20 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Ellis was passionate in his search for knowledge. His formal education ended early but he maintained a life long quest to learn and solve problems. His spiritual quest went far beyond his membership in the United Methodist Church and led him to mentor friends and relatives. He saw the face of God in every child. He will be remembered for these qualities and for his quick wit by his family and friends. Gallimore Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
